Pioneering Progress: Some Ground-breaking Milestones of SAPL in 2024

Once again, we meet with some exciting news and happenings at SAPL.

As outlined in the newsletter, we have three major announcements now –

–The South Africa Patent for Zylem which gives us a clear lead in launching the solution in Africa. I have worked in South African Countries for software projects and will be happy to reconnect with that region with our new version of Zylem with all modules and latest features.

–The ISO27001 certificate, a proof that our teams have imbibed the security processes in their work. The auditor opined that, when he interviewed our teams without the management team around, he found that they too were well prepared for the audit questionnaire. This certification will comfort our corporate customers about the security of the solution and the process.

–Pharma India Expo where we participated, got a chance to explain our solution and relevance to the audience as also answer relevant questions in the panel discussion. As a company with a young team and continuous improvements, we continue to launch new products, modules, and features.

We have also completed three large bespoke development projects in Supply Chain Information area, for a large multinational company in recent past. This opens up another avenue for our skilled teams.

All this makes working at SAPL very exciting. But more about new developments in the next release.

The HR Paradigm

Our company SAPL (Smile Automation Pvt. Ltd.), started small, many years ago, like all other startups.

With multiple projects, technologies and clients, SAPL grew. As also the team size.

I was very clear from beginning – the company will grow in team size and the team will work to deliver solutions to customers.

A team that is dedicated, technology oriented and focused on customer service.

Hence, as a CEO, my main job will be to ensure the Human Resource is motivated and engaged.

So we started developing policies around this principle.

Fortunately, I got a team of senior members, who carried the same thought forward.

They are my confident team of managers now. For more than 20 years !

Even when we were very small, we wanted to implement policies like a large corporate, to ensure that our team gets the same environment.

Like introducing provident fund very early,

or covering all employees under medical insurance beyond the normal ESIC law,

or ensuring that our salaries were above minimum-wages-act even for the trainees.

Offering excellent environment for the women employees, so that they feel safe working here;

Giving them opportunity to take responsibility and grow, and offer all benefits like fully paid maternity leave etc.

Encouraging employees to learn new technology by offering them reimbursement of the course fees.

Believing that systematic working is good for growing organization, but personal touch, beyond systems, helps it to remain human.

Allowing employees to improve and then allocate appropriate work, even change in departments, for their growth. And rewarding them on this path.

After COVID, we learnt to balance between comfort – of working from home and need – to work together as Team. Hence followed Hybrid working policy. So that our teams get best of both worlds.

I feel I can go on telling you more about our policies; I hope our team members appreciate.

We were selected as the “Innovation Supplier of the Year”

1. The Award :

The most important one, is – We were selected as the “Innovation Supplier of the Year” by our customer Becton Dickinson or BD as it is known.
Becton, Dickinson and Company is an American multinational medical technology company that offers medical devices, instrument systems and reagents (Also provides consulting and analytics services in some regions).
BD uses our Zylem and ProClaimz solutions for Sales Information and Claims processing. Our team ensures that their stringent requirements are met regularly in terms of delivery and accuracy.
The award was for our innovative solution, customer service and how we help BD achieve their goals related to Carbon footprint.
I believe this is a recognition of our innovative solution – Zylem and our commitment to Customer Service

2. The Get-together:

The entire SAPL team gets together once a year, to interact, play together, and enjoy couple of days together, away from work.
Our team size is growing and hence this get together becomes very important for all.
We had our members from all over India coming down to Lonavala for our annual gathering. You will be able to see the enjoyment and excitement in the photos of the event. Apart from the learnings from Team Games conducted by experts.

3. New Development Centre:

We are growing in terms of projects and manpower. And we are excited with this growth.
We needed to strengthen our Software Development team also to upgrade our products and introduce new ones.
Hence, we opened a new Development Centre in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. We have a young team there, being groomed by the seniors from Pune team.
We are hopeful of building a strong and big team there to support the team at Pune. And then bring out new products in line with our vision in this field of Supply Chain Information Management.

SAPL speaks in The Economics Times SCM Summit 2023

Happy to connect with you again with news about happenings at SAPL.

We began this quarter with event participation at Delhi.

Since we offer Supply Chain Information Solution, it was very natural for us to participate in the Times of India SCM summit and speak on the relevance of our solution to the industry.

Our Sales team – Milind Bhadsavle, Nikita Chavan and Anshul Agarwal participated in this Summit at Delhi and interacted with the guests there on 28^th June 2023.

Our Sales Director Mr. Milind Bhadsavle made an excellent point about the Digital Revolution in India and how our Zylem solution evolved in line with this.

It was well appreciated by the audience who more details thru their questions.

Such events give us an opportunity to interact with a large customer gathering, present latest developments and answer their questions. I must thank Times Group for giving us an opportunity in this event.

I also have another great news – and all of you who know our company and the members well, would appreciate it.

Our General Manager Mr. Liju Poulose has been promoted as the COO – Chief Operating Officer of SAPL !

Liju has been with SAPL for 29 years and has grown to this position only with his Commitment, Sincerity, Technical Knowledge and Team Spirit. With his soft voice but firm demand of work, he is popular in the company as a guide, mentor and senior and also with our customers.

He is responsible for many systems and technical developments in SAPL.

I am happy to have Liju as COO of SAPL, and take our company to new levels of performance; especially when we are growing in number of projects and hence Members.

And wish him all the best in his new Avatar to lead.

He will be assisted by all Managers and Asstt Managers and I am sure, will receive cooperation from all team members.

With this I have another good news about our DMS software BizzControl.

We had a desktop version which is very popular even today. We had decided to launch the Cloud based version, which is now ready after two years of work. And now this new version is ready to go live with one of our esteemed customers, after a brief pilot, to check the suitability and user friendliness of BizzControl.

This customer, a multinational company in the medical segment, has evaluated solutions and companies and chose us based on experience, expertise, readiness to deliver and customise as per their requirement.

And I am happy to report that our team, led by Amit Chavan has delivered to their satisfaction.

So once we go live with all the distributors of this company, we will be able to service all other clients with their distributors spread anywhere in the world.

And this matches with our expansion plan. But more about all that in next newsletter.

We also have some more product launches scheduled in coming months. So watch this space for more announcements.

SAPL got patent for its flagship product “Zylem”

Dear Friends,

Pleased to connect with you once again with a lot of news at SAPL.

Most important for us is – we got Patent for our Flagship solution “Zylem” from Govt of India!

We knew when we began on this solution 15 years back, that this is something novel and unique. We persisted and worked on it, kept on getting customer acceptance and finally, there is recognition.

I would like to thank all our customers who trusted us with this novel approach, our team which worked and make it a success and our patent attorney who worked with us for three years on this patent.

I am aware that this is only the beginning of our journey of taking this solution globally. Our team is excited to work on this, add features and modules, and work hard towards our goal. And our journey in that direction has already begun.

But more about this in the coming months.

We have revamped our corporate Website sapl.net to reflect a new approach and new ways of getting our information. Please visit the new website and give us your feedback. We will value your opinions and respond to them.

Our team is also working on revamping our solution website zylem.co.in and you will be able to easily find our solution and product details as also new introductions.

Will keep you posted whenever it is launched.

This month we are also celebrating “International Yoga Day”. This is a day when the entire world works along with us on our ancient technique of better living thru Body and Mind fitness.

Thanks to our PM, this now has been accepted officially all over the world as a better way to healthy living, though Yoga has already spread all over during the last century.

We have many enthusiasts in our company who perform Yog and Pranayam daily ( including yours truly ! ). We will be publishing their photos on our website for all to see.

Please do join us from wherever you are on this day, and whichever group you are with and enjoy the Yoga session.

SAPL Annual Get-together 2023

In the previous issue, we talked about how we had to go for Work From Home due to COVID and we are now returning to normal with offices open, but the Hybrid working continues.

Yes, people are comfortable working from home, though they want to meet and work with their colleagues when there is an opportunity.

And what better opportunity than our annual get-together!

During last 3 years, we did not have our annual ritual of last 25 years – the common get-together at a resort.

Here the teams undergo outdoor training, play games and interact with management team at different level.

So now there was a chance and we decided to exploit it to the full potential. You can see how our teams have enjoyed in the photos.

This event also gives me an opportunity to talk to all together, reward the performing members in front of all, share news of company achievements and take their opinion before we decide on new policy.

I enjoyed this completely and hope our teams have, too.

We understand important of video over text, especially while showcasing products and in Digital Marketing. So SAPL launched series of Videos about our new Mobile App – Zylemini+.

These explain the features of Zylemini+ and their relevance to the working. Please do visit our YouTube Channel and watch them.

SAPL: 34 Years of Customer Service Commitment

In this WFH time, though convenient to all members, we miss the connection, the interaction with our teams.
I believe it is essential to use every opportunity to get our people together and connect with them, share our ideas, and listen to their inputs.

We had two such opportunities in the past month.

This time, we could conduct the Townhall in person, at Pune and Mumbai and I felt it great to see them together, reacting to my speech, asking questions.
I always like to speak to our teams, sharing our plans and clarifying. Finally, they are the ones who create the solutions, deliver and service the customers.

The SAPL Foundation Day celebrations always reminds me about our humble beginning and the growth stages.
So good to meet our people again, celebrate, play, and enjoy.

And though we are 30+ old now, with more than 100 persons, we strive to maintain the informal atmosphere and enthusiasm of a start-up.

I am excited to add one more product to our Zylem Solution basket – Cloud Based DMS “BizzControl”.

This was one component essential to complete Distributor System management and data collection.
The solution uses the latest technology and is configured to meet the market demands.
We hope to roll out the solution soon to our first corporate customer.

We are also launching a new Digital Marketing Series addressed to the Top Management of our customers.

We realized that the management needs reports and analysis of sales on a regular basis – to plan their Sales as well as Supply.
And Zylem is helping them get in-time correct information on the Width and Depth of Distribution.
We are happy to serve them, and adding BI for better Analytics.

I am glad to connect with you through this newsletter – a bridge to connect SAPL with all of you and inform happenings, and new product launches. And more.

The entire world is recovering from Covid, getting back to normal life, working wherever possible, and trying to keep the wheels running.

And are we successful in all those efforts?

We are getting back to old levels of production, distribution, & consumption as seen in the growth and tax collections. We have customers visiting us at our offices and our teams go out to meet customers face to face, strengthening the bond.

It has also opened up the Exhibitions and Seminars in person, and we participated in two of them, details in the newsletter.
